Sourav left his home at the age of 9, to study in a boarding school. He had chosen to study undergrad in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics as a major, only to discover that his passion lies in the business of promoting and selling products and services. An MBA degree followed by a 6 years tenure at Asian Paints Ltd, he rigorously practised the art and science of managing the business amongst the toughest markets of India. His excellence at work and eagerness to learn landed him to a one year, on the job, executive program in sales and marketing at Indian Institute of Management- Calcutta, co-sponsored by Asian Paints Ltd.
His fascination towards books continues to make him read many famous authors on management, human psychology, leadership and philosophy. He regularly actualises his learnings to bring transparency and inclusiveness at work. Working in great teams throughout his career, pillars of authenticity and collaboration drives his philosophy of leadership. As he quotes, “Radically open-minded and radically transparent at work help you to learn and gain credibility at work. You earn the trust of your co-workers and they openly share ideas, strengths and vulnerabilities.”
His remarkable ability to get along well with his clients and customers paved his way to the world of qual and quant research methodologies, analytics and insights. He got accepted to IE Business school, Spain, to pursue Master in Market Research and Consumer Behaviour at IE Business School. Studying in one of the best business schools in the world along with students and teachers representing 168 nationalities was a truly spectacular experience. He was awarded IE Fellow Scholarship to work with IE on research projects. His ability to come up with ideas and stay positive in distress times gained him the title of ‘Mahatma Gandhi of class’ by his peers. Working with brilliant minds, he finished his master among the top 10 in the class. The highlights of his master were to work on real-time research consulting projects with Millward Brown, Nielsen-General Mills and Telefonica. As he describes his IE experience, ” You have to push every limit you set for yourself to be successful. Success doesn’t lie where you think it is, you have to go beyond. One step further, and one step more until you’re unbeatable. One more shot, one more improvement, one more chance to be irreplaceable.”
Apart from reading books, Sourav is an enthusiastic blogger, storyteller and passionate Speaker. He is involved in conversing, influencing and implementing positive psychology in life and work. His other hobbies are gymming, yoga and mindfulness. Occasionally, he loves to play and watch Football, Lawn Tennis and other athletic sports.
